"out of sight, out of mind". Where I live you have to be more like this before they care.

The rear door garnish on my xB went crack on Christmas day, and I'm having a hell of a time getting it in to a dealer for warranty work (this is the subject of a very specific extended warranty).

So there's matching blue tape holding one side of it to my car. I'm considering just buying the replacement, but I know that Toyota does very good warranty repair on their cars, so...

If you're talking about the trim piece I'm thinking off, I have photos of those, too.

Pretty common issue.

The bottom one, but with close-to-matching color, and very neat only on the left-hand side.

Apparently it's a big problem.

As many times as I have noticed this, I have always wondered why it's always taped on? Is the license plate light assembly attached to that trim?

And the button to open the hatch. I would have just removed it until repaired, except I wouldn't easily be able to get into the hatch.

Your best bet would probably be to drill out the end of the crack and then fill that in with something so wind won't get in. I suppose tape would work for that too
